The Covenant

Our Promise to Jesus Christ

“Having been led by the Holy Spirit of God to receive Jesus Christ as Saviour and to confess him as Lord, and on confession of this faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God and this congregation, most solemnly and joyfully covenant with one another, as one body in Christ, to lead a life worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him.

We endeavour by the aid of the Holy Spirit to forsake the ways of sin and to walk together in sincere love for God and one another. With this in view, we seek to strive together for the growth of our church, and to promote its peace and purity; to sustain its worship and steadfastly to cherish and hold its ordinances, disciplines, and doctrines; to sacrificially give, as faithful stewards, such time, talent and finances that God has entrusted to each of us, so that the work of our church and the world-wide ministry of the Gospel be faithfully advanced.

We also endeavour to maintain family and private devotions; to train our children in godliness; to seek the salvation of our relatives and acquaintances; to be just and honest in our dealings and faithful in our responsibilities; to be exemplary in our conduct; to combine zeal and knowledge in our efforts to advance the cause of our Saviour, and to make Christ first in all things.

We further endeavour to give and receive admonition with meekness and love; to remember each other in prayer, and to aid each other in times of need; to cultivate Christian love and kindness in thought, deed, and word; to be slow to take offence, but always ready to seek reconciliation without delay; and to encourage one another in the development of our relationship with Jesus Christ.

We furthermore endeavour that when we move from this place we will unite as soon as possible with another local church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of the Word of God.”
